First things first - let’s find out which session you’re after from the choices below ⤵️

Monthly Workshops

These one off classes are lead by Wade and our talented potters - they are designed for total beginners, but often frequented by a regular gang who’ve fallen in love with the slab building process. You can book as many as you like and really start to develop your slab building skills and ambitions!

Pottery Socials

pottery courses experience newcastle

These are three week mini courses lead by our Liam, with help from Hazel and Wade - expect to make cups, bowls and new friends.

Held on Friday afternoons between 1:30-4pm, its the perfect excuse to end your week on a high and start the weekend early.

£140pp including all materials, tuition, glazing + firing.

After you’ve attended our pottery social classes - providing you’re feeling confident and your tutor is happy - you can move on to our wheel practice sessions (or repeat the pottery social if you want more practice, guidance and new friends).

WEEK 1:

The basics - wedging, centring, throwing a cylinder, as well as the safe + tidy way to use the potters wheel.

Your two fave cylinders will be kept until week 3 when you will learn to turn them and attach handles - making your own pair of cups.

WEEK 2:

Push yourself - practice your centring, and moving the clay with confidence to create bowls.

Choose your two favourite bowls to keep until next week when you will learn to turn them - making two beautiful bowls.

WEEK 3:

The big finale - learn to trim your pots, pull handles and any final fancy decorative bits.

Your pots will then be slowly dried, bisque fired, and then glazed with our house glaze called ‘wheely teal’ - collect 6-8 weeks later.

* Please note it is a set price for all three sessions, including all materials and glazing. No refunds will be made / different dates offered if you’re not able to make a class. If Liam is on holiday or sick you might get Hazel or Wade as your tutor, but have no fear - they’re just as good and almost as funny. This session is only suitable for those have done a taster throwing class or have throwing experience previously. Book taster throwing here.
