Whether you’re in the mood for hands-on making with clay or painting your heart out, have a gander through the simple steps below to see just how easy it is to start creating.
Pop in or book ahead, when you arrive pick a piece of pottery that you’d love to paint from our collection of mugs, jugs, unicorns, plant pots and more. Pottery is priced individually varying from £10-40 depending on size.
We provide all the equipment you’ll need to create something fantastic, including gorgeous designs to trace onto your pottery. Watch a demonstration, ask all the questions you’d like, and then you’re ready to start painting.
Your piece will be ready to collect 3-5 weeks later, after we’ve carefully glazed and fired it. If you’re in a rush please let us know and we will try to do our speediest job. Just visiting? We can post it to you!
Book a making session to experience the ceramic process from start to finish. Our patient and experienced potter will guide you through the process of turning a ball of clay into your own handmade masterpiece.

No matter the occasion we’re sure we’ll have something to impress and excite your guests in our fabulous studio that can seat up to 36 people in total. Choose from our selection of painting and making packages.
We do pottery painting every day, and teach throwing most days. We also have one-off events running throughout the year.
Went to the pottery experience this morning for our first throwing session and it exceeded all expectations.

My partner and I visited The Pottery Experience today to have a go at painting. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon! The venue is bright and welcoming, the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable and everything has been incredibly well thought out. The prices are very reasonable and I really liked how there was something to suit all budgets. We can’t wait to go and collect our mugs once they have been in the kiln and will definitely be back.

For pottery painting booking the short answer is yes. You are totally welcome to pop in, however to guarantee we have space for you booking is heavily recommended as we’re quite often fully booked, even on weekdays. Do give us a quick call before you pop along to check our availability.
When you are booking please let us know the total number of people who are attending, this includes anyone who is not planning on painting.
Painting pottery is the price of the pottery you choose to paint, plus any drinks or treats you purchase. Pottery is priced £10 – £40 depending on the size of the piece you choose.
Making pottery starts at £36pp, this includes making two pots each and returning to paint them one to two months later. This price includes all materials, tutoring, glazing and firings.
We offer discounts for those visiting on their birthday, students and babies if you book for our discount days.
If you’re coming with a group take a look at the different packages we offer for making and painting.
It takes us 3-5 weeks to glaze and fire your pottery, ready for you to collect. If you need a piece urgently, let us know and we’ll do our very best to be super speedy! We need at least 3 days to get a piece ready. (Not possible during busy periods like Christmas). Glazing and firing takes at least 48 hrs as our kilns heat up to 1000°C to make your piece bright, shiny and useable, once they reach this top temperature we slowly cool back down to 100°C ready for us to unload.
If you are just visiting us we offer a post and packing service which is priced £6-15 or £2pp+ for large groups.

Taster throwing is only suitable for those aged 12+ and our making courses and hand building sessions are for adults only.
